Felicity Blackmore

Compliance and Development Manager

17 February 2020

This summer Felicity Blackmore from our Strategy and Sustainability team is embarking on Tour Aotearoa, a 3,000km ride from Cape Reinga to Bluff.

What do you do at the airport? I manage our environmental operations, including consenting, development, regulations and compliance.

What do you love most about your job? No two days are the same. It’s a really dynamic place to work.

Favourite sustainability initiative at the airport? I like the fact that being a great kaitiaki/guardian is one of our core pillars. Sustainability is business-as-usual at the airport.

What inspired your Tour Aotearoa adventure? I’ve always loved cycling, it’s my favourite method of transport. I find sitting still incredibly hard!

Do your co-workers think you’re crazy? They do! The airport’s been super supportive though. They donated money to my charity of choice, are promoting bike week, and lots of my workmates are logging their kms to match my training.

What are you looking forward to most? Exploring parts of the country I haven’t seen before, and eating heaps.

Go-to power snack? Chocolate milk.

Biggest fear? A sore bum.

How long will it take? 20 days all going to plan. 😅😬🏔🚴🏼‍♀️💨🏕 🍺 🥘😴and repeat!

Any message to share? I hope my tour will inspire others to hop on a bike, or e-bike, and just start riding. It’s a legitimate form of transport, and if we can reduce our car trips the world will be better for it.
